Risk Compression Engine

See which direction modeled cyber risk is moving.

The Risk Compression Engine applies the Ford Model to current VitalSec evidence. It shows whether modeled risk is compressing or expanding, where the environment sits relative to the Ford Boundary, and which of the four forces caused the movement.

Ford Model

dR/dt = f(E + P − D − A)

Compression

E + P > D + A

Boundary

E + P = D + A

Expansion

E + P < D + A

What the engine does

See what is moving risk — and why.

The engine evaluates the four Ford Model forces using current evidence, then shows direction, change over time, Ford Boundary position, and the drivers behind the movement. The Risk Compression Index can summarize the current condition in one measure; the engine preserves the explanation behind it.

Direction

Determine whether the current evidence supports compression, the Ford Boundary, or expansion.

Ford Boundary

Show whether Enforcement plus Proof Continuity is above, equal to, or below Decay plus Adversarial Pressure.

Change over time

Track how modeled risk direction changes as controls, proof, drift, and adversarial pressure change.

What caused the change

Tie movement back to the evidence and material changes that produced it.

The four forces

See what is pushing modeled risk down and what is pushing it up.

E

Enforcement

Controls and corrective actions that are actively constraining or improving the environment.

P

Proof Continuity

How consistently current evidence supports the claim that required controls are working.

D

Decay

Drift, stale evidence, operational change, and other effects that weaken the environment over time.

A

Adversarial Pressure

Threat activity and exploitable paths working against the defended environment.

Inputs

Current control and enforcement status
Proof freshness and continuity
Drift, stale evidence, and material operational change
External exposure and adversarial pressure
Vulnerability, CAAT, endpoint, identity, network, backup, and other current security evidence

Outputs

Whether modeled cyber risk is compressing or expanding
Risk direction over time
Ford Boundary position
Drivers of change across Enforcement, Proof Continuity, Decay, and Adversarial Pressure
Attribution for material changes
Model state used by the Risk Compression Index

How to read the result

The result stays tied to the evidence and the Ford Model.

The Risk Compression Engine models direction and change over time; the Risk Compression Index presents the current normalized measure.

Engine output stays tied to the evidence and material changes that produced the movement.

The canonical Ford Differential remains dR/dt = f(E + P − D − A). Implementation details do not redefine that differential.

Evidence freshness, scope, and quality remain visible instead of disappearing behind the result.

Risk Compression Index

The index presents the supported result on a 0–100 scale.

The index uses the current engine result and the evidence supporting it. It gives users a consistent measure while the engine explains why modeled risk moved.
